"Houston, We have a solution! Vote Green 2016!"
Unquestionably, the Green Party nominating convention in Houston demonstrated that the Greens are the most unified & energized of all the ballot-qualified parties in this election cycle. Dr. Jill Stein and her running mate, human rights activist Ajamu Baraka, won the nomination with more than 80% of the delegate vote, and the positive energy among attendees was sky high during the event. But don't take our word for it, watch the livestream recording for yourself and tell us if you think this is what democracy looks like. No white noise machines or paid seat fillers here; just real people ready to fight for the future like our lives depend on it!
The four day event kicked off on Thursday, August 4th with workshops, #DownTicketGreens candidate press conferences, delegate meetings, and fundraising parties. It wrapped up on Sunday, August 7th with campaign strategy sessions.
GPTX SEC co-chair Laura Palmer welcomed delegates to the convention, which also included speeches from GPTX candidates Martina Salinas for TX Railroad Commissioner and Rodolfo Rivera Munoz for TX Supreme Court Justice place 3. Notable addresses were also given by Yahne Ndgo, Dr. Cornel West, and Julian Assange, among others. Check out the afternoon session to review those speeches.
Greens now look forward to hosting watch parties across the state for a Stein/Baraka CNN Town Hall on Wednesday, August 17th at 8pm central, and to pushing the demand to #openthedebates.
