Want Ballot Access??? SAVE THE DATE! - March 13, 2018
Remember - Don't vote in the primary!
If you want to see the Green Party of Texas back on the ballot in 2018, the absolute most important date to mark on your calendar is Tuesday, March 13th, 2018. This is because state election code sets the date for precinct nominating conventions as the second Tuesday in March. As a convention nominating party, the Green Party of Texas is NOT included in primary elections that take place in the Spring. To support Green ballot access, voters must SAVE their primary vote to legally participate in the GPTX nominating conventions that are mandated to occur the week following the primary election.
GPTX needs 47,182 verified voter signatures submitted to the Texas Secretary of State's office in order to regain ballot access. Signature collection begins with voters signing in to participate in the Green nominating conventions, and can be supplemented by petition drive during the 75 day convention period. So once you participate in the convention, we also ask that you help with the petition drive to assure that we collect sufficient signatures.
Specific locations will be posted at least 10 days in advance. Local volunteers should advise GPTX of convention locations when they are determined. GPTX will provide ballots, procedural support, and training as the convention period approaches.
Critical to our success in 2018 will be the development of a strong slate of candidates to deliver Green platform messaging and engage with the public on Green issues. Individuals interested in running as Green candidates can express initial interest by completing our Green Screen Survey. Our candidate development committee will then engage with individuals to facilitate the candidacy process. The candidate application period for the 2018 general election will technically occur from November to December 2017. Individual volunteers interested in working on candidate development should connect with their local party.WHENMarch 13, 2018 at 7pmWHERETBD
Texas's 85th Legislative Session begins January 10th, 2017, and we need volunteers to help watch and lobby our legislators for and against important reforms and bills. If you are interested in helping out with this project, please sign up below with your email address for an invitation to join our Slack Team and Trello Boards.
What we will be working on with this team:
- Writing letters and calling Committee Members and our elected representatives
- Keeping watch on important bills as they go through the legislative process
- Organizing and participating in lobby days at the Capitol in Austin
- Organizing our friends, family, and community to lobby for important reforms
- Learning more about the legislative process and citizen lobbying
- Creating coalitions with other organizations and groups for positive change through our legislature
This is a great way to stay active politically in 2017 and to learn more about how our state government works. At the end of the day, citizen activism and citizen lobbying are key parts to our legislative process. With your help we can create real change in our state and make our voices heard in Austin. Please sign up below and look for our response email in your inbox.

Thank you for becoming a monthly sustainer. We rely upon people like you to pay for our website, database, domain, email, and to be able to make a budget for other expenditures.
We encourage people to donate at least $10/month, which is equivalent to 30 cents a day to help maintain a non-corporate sponsored, grassroots, political party. Of course any amount will be helpful!
We hope you agree it is worth the investment.
The Green Party of Texas thanks you for your financial support. We will use these funds to operate and grow the party, defend ballot access, fund campaigns and promote our platform positions.
Unlike the two major parties, the Green Party does not accept donations from corporations, only individuals ... just like you. In doing so we make very clear our commitment to Green politics -- for and in the interest of the people.
Please note: Only personal donations will be accepted. No corporate, partnership, multi-person trust, or political action committee funds will be accepted.
Voter involvement is key to the success of our efforts. Take the first step by joining us today!
Please be sure to give us a valid zip code so that you will be automatically connected to your local county party.
I support the Green Party of Texas because they support me and the issues that I am passionate about. I was always interested in politics and society, but the Bernie Sanders campaign and his Political Revolution really jump-started my passion to become directly involved. Through the sabotage and suppression of his campaign and message by the Democratic Party, I came to realize that neither party represents me, my issues, or the issues that are vitally important to the American people and this world. I want to work hard to help spread the ideas embodied by the Green Party and help create a strong third-party movement in this country that gives us more voices and more choices. We must create an America that works for all of us, not just the 1%. We must have real social, economic, environmental, and racial justice in this country for all people.
