We are fortunate to live in a truly historic moment. On the one hand, there is a groundswell of unease across the country increasingly focused on the perversion of our Democracy by corporations. Furthermore, people all over are uniting against a senseless and endless war, erosion of civil rights, global warming, the loss of sovereignty to institutions like the WTO, the rise in cancer and other diseases. On the other hand, the rapid development of communications technology is making it possible for people to educate themselves and unite in an unprecedented manner.

The Green Party is poised to become the leading force all across the globe, as individual citizens unite everywhere around common shared values. We are like the masons who started the huge cathedrals in Europe, which took hundreds of years to build. They knew they would never see the finished product, but they also knew that the foundation stones were the most important ones.

Besides the work and stress, there is nothing more motivating than creating what Martin Luther King Jr. called "the beloved community."
