In addition to electoral matters, GPTX SEC has also endorsed two initiatives. The first is in solidarity with Familias Unidas por la Justicia, calling for a boycott of Driscoll’s Berries in their attempt to negotiate a collective bargaining agreement with Sakuma Bros Farms. The second endorsed initiative is a Resolution on Climate Change, circulated by the Texas Drought Project and endorsed by many other organizations, this resolution will be presented to the chief US climate negotiator at the UN Climate Conference in December, and is reportedly the largest sign-on letter of organizations in Texas ever.
Administratively, GPTX SEC just completed transitioning the txgreens.org domain to the new website, and we are still working to grow county level participation around the state. Currently, GPTX SEC is operating with three vacant seats and continues to request volunteer nominations to serve by appointment until the next state meeting.
