About

Joel Gronau was born in Colorado & moved to Dallas county when he was 2 years old and has called Texas home ever since. Joel Gronau has been of service to this country his entire life starting as a child in Boy Scouts, serving his local community and eventually becoming an Eagle Scout.  Later, Joel worked in the city of Mesquite as a city lifeguard keeping the kids safe. During his college years he worked in the food/service industry serving people and putting a smile on their faces. Nothing seems to please Joel more than serving his neighbors. As an adult Joel joined the US Navy in service of the United States of America. Stationed in Gulfport MS, he helped clean up and rebuild Gulfport after Katrina. He also served this country in Afghanistan building up the Kandahar base against the fight of the Taliban. After that Joel did another tour in Okinawa during the nuclear reactor flooding. After service with the Navy, he coached little kids, developing their knowledge of strength, conditioning, speed, and agility as a club soccer coach. After moving back to Dallas Joel became a teacher and is teaching 9th grade at Desoto High School.

Issues

- Joel Gronau's Values -

1. Life, Liberty & Pursuit of Happiness

I am a firm believer in the Declaration of Independence that everyone has the right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness.  I believe it is the governments job to make sure that everyone has those fundamental rights and will do everything to protect them in the USA.

2. Grassroots Democracy

I believe all humans should have a say in decisions that affect their lives; no one should be subject to the will of another.  I will work to improve public participation in every aspect of government and seek to ensure that our public representatives are fully accountable to the people who elected them.

3. Decentralization

Centralization of wealth and power contributes to social and economic injustice, environmental destruction and militarization. I seek a restructuring of social, political and economic institutions away from a system controlled by and mostly benefiting the powerful few, to a democratic less bureaucratic system. Decision-making should remain at the individual and local level while assuring that civil-liberties are protected for all.

4. Equal Opportunity and Respect for Diversity

As a matter of right, given by the creator, all persons must have the opportunity to benefit equally from the resources afforded to us by society and the environment. We must consciously confront in ourselves our organizations and society at large any discrimination by race class gender sexual orientation age nationality religion or physical and mental ability that denies fair treatment and equal Justice under the law. I believe it is important to value cultural ethnic racial religious and spiritual diversity and to promote the development of respectful relationships across the human race.

5. Ecological Wisdom with Future Focus and Sustainability

Human societies must function with the understanding that we are part of nature not separated from it, we must maintain an ecological balance and live within the ecological and resource limits of our communities and our planet. I support a sustainable society that utilizes resources in such a way that future generations will benefit and not suffer from the practices of our generation. We must move to an energy efficient economy and live in ways that respect the integrity of nature. Our actions and policies should be motivated by long term goals assuring that economic-development new technologies and fiscal policy are responsible to future generations who will inherit the results of our actions. We must take the quality of all lives rather than just the open ended economic growth  My policies will focus on the future and thinking towards the benefits of our children and grandchildren.
