As you may have seen from the State Party's last dispatch, we are in middle of candidate filing for Party CoChairs and myriad seats for next year's general election - Nov 2018.
Anyone who wants to be CoChair of the county or state Green Party, run for public office, give an incumbent a challenger, get more publicity for your activism, or otherwise use the tool of electoral politics in 2018 needs to file their notarized Application for Nomination & CTA form by Dec 11, 2017.
This deadline is set by the state and is non-negotiable. Most banks & credit unions will notarize for customers for free.
We will have a notary at our next potluck Gathering on Dec 10.
We are setting up an endeavor composed of a boutique/thrift, and makers market for the holidays & beyond. Come by and put your money toward gifts with a purpose.
The project will include two lead components:
A) The Palestine Online Store, with goods from artisans in Occupied Palestine include olive oil and za’tar, soaps, gift baskets, handcrafts, kufiyehs, t-shirts, books, DVD’s and more. You can also order online & pick up at our space.
B) We will also have other general unique artifacts, art, jewelry, clothing accessories, & antiques from another member's pack-rat collection to browse.
Both of these reciprocal collaborations are with three established members of the party who will be the lead operators of the endeavor. The intent is for them to help cover the overhead of the space so we don’t lose it, and by keeping fairly regular business hours, helping publicly promote the party. For now, we feel this is a win win for everyone. if you have some special items or items you make and would like to join this effort, do come by and talk with us.
Hours of market’s operation and schedule for upcoming GP meetings and events will be posted on our calendar by Dec 1, 2017.
First there was the departure of our CoChair Ashely Flashe Gordon, who is now leading community relief efforts in Port Arthur from her family home. Efforts are ongoing - demolition crews are still urgently needed as are funds. To volunteer or contribute contact Ashely via email or the Flashe Mob FB Page.
Now, our second CoChair, katija gruene, is vacating her seat, effective Dec 1, to focus on her physical rehabilitation efforts.
If you have been putting off getting involved, or been waiting for someone to get you involved, now's the time to become active and help build & sustain the movement - don’t wait, participate!
What is stopping you?
Really. Is there something preventing your participation? We would like to know how we can help everyone wanting to participate, do so.
