Green Party is the peace party

A political party's values are never more important than in a time of crisis. This week, President Trump's order to strike a Syrian air base with Tomahawk missiles is one such event.

    The mask of empathy

On the face of it, the rationale offered by the administration, that it was punishment for Bashar al-Assad's recent use of chemical weapons, seems, at first, to be reasonable. It can be framed, as the president did in his speech to Americans, as an empathetic duty. No doubt, as witnessed in the corporate media, the message of empathy is one that resonates. It makes converts of many of the loudest Trump-haters.

    Monthly Sustainer

Thank you for becoming a monthly sustainer.  We rely upon people like you to pay for our website, database, domain, email, and to be able to make a budget for other expenditures.

We encourage people to donate at least $10/month, which is equivalent to 30 cents a day to help maintain a non-corporate sponsored, grassroots, political party. Of course any amount will be helpful!

We hope you agree it is worth the investment.

The Green Party of Texas thanks you for your financial support. We will use these funds to operate and grow the party, defend ballot access, fund campaigns and promote our platform positions.

Unlike the two major parties, the Green Party does not accept donations from corporations, only individuals ... just like you. In doing so we make very clear our commitment to Green politics -- for and in the interest of the people.

Please note: Only personal donations will be accepted. No corporate, partnership, multi-person trust, or political action committee funds will be accepted.

    Volunteer

Congratulations! You have taken the next step to become active in the Green Party. The Party's success in building an alternative future depends on you and what you choose to do.

There are many possibilities for participation. You could engage in traditional political activities such as block-walking, phone-banking, and tabling. Or, you could work with other Greens to create citizen media such as Greenwatch or other programs. Issues based activism is a good fit with the Green Party as we work to knit the social movements together. You let us know what you want to do, and we'll help you find a way to do it.

There are many options below.  Select as many as you like!

Check out Green Party of Texas. I just joined. http://www.txgreens.org/tx_legislature?recruiter_id=49665

    TX Legislature

Texas's 85th Legislative Session begins January 10th, 2017, and we need volunteers to help watch and lobby our legislators for and against important reforms and bills. If you are interested in helping out with this project, please sign up below with your email address for an invitation to join our Slack Team and Trello Boards.

What we will be working on with this team:

    • Writing letters and calling Committee Members and our elected representatives
    • Keeping watch on important bills as they go through the legislative process
    • Organizing and participating in lobby days at the Capitol in Austin
    • Organizing our friends, family, and community to lobby for important reforms
    • Learning more about the legislative process and citizen lobbying
    • Creating coalitions with other organizations and groups for positive change through our legislature

This is a great way to stay active politically in 2017 and to learn more about how our state government works. At the end of the day, citizen activism and citizen lobbying are key parts to our legislative process. With your help we can create real change in our state and make our voices heard in Austin. Please sign up below and look for our response email in your inbox.
