    Monthly Sustainer

Thank you for becoming a monthly sustainer.  We rely upon people like you to pay for our website, database, domain, email, and to be able to make a budget for other expenditures.

We encourage people to donate at least $10/month, which is equivalent to 30 cents a day to help maintain a non-corporate sponsored, grassroots, political party. Of course any amount will be helpful!

We hope you agree it is worth the investment.

The Green Party of Texas thanks you for your financial support. We will use these funds to operate and grow the party, defend ballot access, fund campaigns and promote our platform positions.

Unlike the two major parties, the Green Party does not accept donations from corporations, only individuals ... just like you. In doing so we make very clear our commitment to Green politics -- for and in the interest of the people.

Please note: Only personal donations will be accepted. No corporate, partnership, multi-person trust, or political action committee funds will be accepted.

Q: In your race, please list the top five talking points that you would cover in a debate with your opponents. With each talking point, please show how the Green Party's ten key values or platform would provide a solution.
A: 1. I would have to argue that any candidate should be interested in overturning Citizens United. Unless you are part of the 1%, most everyone universally agrees that this should be completely unconstitutional. Along with that comes drastically cutting our budget that goes into the huge bottomless pit called the Pentagon. Not only should the funds be drastically cut, but the Pentagon should have to squarely account publically for every cent it spends. This money could be better spent on desperately needed improvements in many social areas in the United States.
    2. Healthcare, I am all in for a single payer health care. Other countries are able to do this. I think what distinction should be made is that healthcare will never be free. However, people should at least get a product that they pay for. With the current Obamacare, many have the health insurance, however, they cannot afford the deductibles and copays, and are therefore going without healthcare. This is an outrage. The pharmaceutical and insurance industries have grown outrageously wealthy from this set up, while families are going bankrupt should their loved one becomes ill.
    3. Legalizing marijuana and decriminalizing many drugs. When you look at the benefits versus the cost of criminalizing marijuana, it just isn’t worth it. I do not believe that legalizing marijuana is going to cause a massive rush of people to go and use this. People’s lives are being wrecked by having a record that stays with them for the rest of their lives, and we are spending into the trillions in locking people away. I believe that any of the tax proceeds can go to help people with addictions rather than penalize them.
    4. Voting Reforms – I think most people universally want voting reforms. I think that we should convert to a paper ballot. I believe that most people universally do not trust electronic voting, and I believe a significant number of people want open primaries, meaning that independents are allowed to vote. I believe people want reforms in the way the media covers elections. Specifically, if the Green Party or Libertarian Party has state access ballot, they should have access to debates and media coverage.
    5. Nonviolence – I think most people are wary of war, and have had their eyes opened up to the horrifying fact that we, in fact, have been the terrorists of the world through much of our foreign policies. I believe we do have a terrorist problem, but it has been a problem of our government’s making. I think our war should be ended in the middle east, and we may be forever paying restitution by helping these people rebuild their societies.
