Candidate Crunchtime

We've got a Zoom call on Sunday for helping out our candidates & there's an opportunity for a *new* candidate to join their ranks.  Could it be you?  More info after the flip...

After a very successful Green candidate support meeting this past Sunday, the group agreed to have the next meeting ASAP - this coming Sunday, August 18, at 4PM!

We will discuss options and plans for supporting Dr. Jill Stein, our presumptive presidential nominee, and Eddie Espinoza, our candidate for Texas Railroad Commissioner.

Zoom details are on the event page, here: https://www.txgreens.org/2024_08_geodes_campaigns_20240818
Please take a moment to RSVP

Seeking TX-18 Green candidate: 6pm on Thursday, August 27, 2024 is the deadline to file to run in the Tuesday, November 5, 2024 Special Election to fill the 18th Congressional District (Houston area) seat vacated by the passing of Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, who was in office for 29 years!

Special elections are a good opportunity because the filing fee or number of signatures needed to get on the ballot are lower than usual.  Would anyone in the 18th district like to gather the signatures or raise money to put your name on the ballot as the Green candidate? If interested, please contact us ASAP.

As we campaign for our 2024 candidates, it is not too soon to start thinking about plans for 2025. Nationwide, many Greens have been elected in small local elections where they were the only person on the ballot. Please consider your city government, county government, and local boards and commissions. Your county government website or your county elections office might be good places to start looking for lists of offices that will be on the ballot in 2025.

February 14, 2025 will be the deadline to file to run for the May 3, 2025 election, and August 18, 2025 will be the deadline to file to run in the November 4, 2025 election. There may be other election dates and other filing deadlines for some local elections in your area! We urge anyone who is considering running for office to dream big but think local.

Solidarity, Y'all.
