Governor Perry has called a special election to be held January 6. The special election call is for 3 seats: House District 123, being vacated by Mike Villarreal, Senate District 26, being vacated by Leticia Van de Putte, who will be challenging Villarreal in the SA Mayoral Campaign, and House District 17, being vacated by Tim Kleinschmidt, a Republican from Lexington who is resigning to take a position as general counsel for the State Department of Agriculture.

Green candidate Paul Ingmundson just ran for the House District 123 seat in the last general election, and he's ready to do it again!

The Green Party of Texas is grateful to all of our candidates who occupied the ballot and stood up for Green values this election cycle. We made significant gains across the ballot and will retain ballot access through 2016! The other big news...

Denton, TX, the birthplace of fracking, JUST BANNED FRACKING. Congratulations, Denton!

This election season much has been happening - our Senatorial candidate, Emily "Spicybrown" Sanchez, made the New York Times; our Agricultural Commissioner candidate Kenneth Kendrick, was endorsed by top TX political bloggers; and our Railroad Commissioner candidate, Martina Salinas, has earned media attention statewide.

There are many more candidates to support also and please remember to vote for state-wide judicial Greens so we can keep ballot access for 2016.

Despite what some may say, your vote does count

               ...and the more people...

             you take with you to the polls

                       ...the better.
