State Convention Recap
At our State Convention earlier this month, our nomination process was concluded, leadership positions were elected & resolutions were agreed on.  Matt Bauman was approved for a 2nd term as GPTX Cochair, Dr. Julián Villarreal was approved to another At Large term, Alex McMenemy was approved to be our Secretary, & Wes Gaige was confirmed to complete the current Treasurer term.
The final wording of the resolutions is being sorted out.  We'll include them on our site when they're ready.

Second Sunday Call
Each month, we have a statewide call for onboarding, education, & encouragement.  BUT NOT THIS MONTH.
May 10 is Mothers Day, so if you're free, find a way to help the mothers in your community.

If there's something you'd like to speak on or learn about on June 14th, tell us about it in the #2nd Sunday Calls channel on Slack.  Not in our Slack yet?  Contact us.

Volunteer Opportunities
All of those candidates need your help - that's the top priority.  But if you're free on Tuesdays at 6:39, join our Zoom call for Social Media projects.  The link will be posted on Slack & in our Instagram groupchat.  Send us a DM. to get added.

Group Highlight
Normally, we highlight an org doing good work - this month, it’s the People for Justice in Palestine

People for Justice in Palestine is a community-based organization that fosters awareness and inspires change around issues of social justice in Palestine and Israel through film festivals, community gatherings, panel discussions, and conversations.  If you've been involved in DFW activism or film groups in the past decade, you've heard of the Broken Lens film festival, which just turned 13 earlier this year.

"We believe the core issue in Palestine and Israel is a system of oppression that favors one people at the expense of another. This system, as expressed in modern political Zionism, diminishes the humanity of all involved to unequal degrees through settler colonialism, apartheid, and violations of basic human rights. We support the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement and reject a “both-sides-ism” that fails to recognize the gross imbalance of power between Israelis and Palestinians. Our work is grounded in a commitment to justice, dignity, and human rights."
