Office sought: Governor
Election Date: November 6, 2018
About
My name is Janis Richards. I am running for governor of Texas in November 2018. I am 67 years old, 68 in January. I graduated from the University of Illinois in 1971 with a BA in Soviet Studies, with honors. I worked in the State Department and in Russian translation, secretarial, legal secretarial, and paralegal jobs since then. When I was 56, I went back to the University of Texas at Austin to work on my Masters Degree in Russian Studies. I owe them a thesis. In 2008 I began my MBA at the University of Houston and owe them two finals to graduate. Politically, I was born again with the presidential campaign of Bernie Sanders on November 1, 2014. I have been a political activist for Democrats from then until July 27, 2016. That is the date I quit the Democratic party and came to the Green Party. I am working to get the Green Party on the ballot in Texas. After that, I will be running a full campaign for office.
