BYLAWS:
I Name
The name of this organization is the Denton County Green Party, and is the Denton County affiliate of the Green Party of Texas.
II Purpose
The purpose of the Denton County Green Party is to build membership within Denton County, and in conjunction with like-minded groups and individuals throughout the state.
(1) To conduct the business of the Denton County Green Party
(2) To promote and inform the electorate of the ten key values of the Green Party and to promote Green Party alternatives and candidates;
(3) To promote the welfare and sustainable growth of Denton County.
(4) To work with and build coalitions with compatible grassroots groups and individuals.
The Ten Key Values are Ecological Wisdom, Social Justice, Grassroots Democracy,
Nonviolence, Decentralization, Community-based Economics, Feminist Values, Respect for Diversity, Personal and Global Responsibility, and Future Focus.
III Membership
Membership is open to any individual residing in Denton County who is in general agreement with the ten key values. Members must sign a statement of affirmation of membership. This grants the right to participate in voting and to appeal decisions of the Denton County Green Party.
IV Structure and Meetings
The Denton County Green Party is comprised of members who select a Steering Committee, which includes Co-Chairs, Secretary, Treasurer, and Advocates.
Co-chairs: Elected for overlapping two year terms by simple majority. Co-chairs are responsible for administrative rather than executive responsibilities. Can be recalled by a ⅔ vote by membership. Quorum a number equal to 25% of the previous membership vote.
Secretary: Elected for one year term by simple majority. Responsible for organizing and maintaining notes regarding Green Party actions, meetings, and votes. The information must be made publicly accessible. Can be recalled by a ⅔ vote by membership. Quorum is a number equal to 25% of the previous membership vote.
Treasurer: Elected for one year term by simple majority. Responsible for managing bank accounts, handling donations, and summarizing account information. Only to be elected once Denton County Green Party receives funds. Can be recalled by a ⅔ vote by membership or proof of malfeasance. Quorum is a number equal to 25% of the previous membership vote.
Advocates: Elected by simple majority for the duration of events, drives, and functions or to advocate for a specific caucus or group. Members at a number equal to 50% of previous membership vote or a majority of co-chairs can start a recall vote. Quorum is a number equal to 25% of the previous membership vote.

We'll be having a state meeting in 1 week! Saturday, Dec. 9th at 10am. Head to https://www.txgreens.org/2023_december_state_meeting now to register. We'll be discussing bylaw & platform amendments, resolutions, & selecting members for the State Executive Committee (SEC). If you'd like to help and have been part of an affiliated group for at least 9 months, let us know ASAP! If you have an amendment for the bylaws or platform, please send them to the SEC before Friday, December 8th.
